Komori Haruka+Seo Natsumi, Under the Wave, On the Ground, 2014

This year marks the 13th anniversary of the Great East Japan Earthquake that occurred on March 11, 2011. Komori Haruka and Seo Natsumi started their activities as an art unit after volunteering in the Tohoku coastal area. They lived in Rikuzentakata City, Iwate Prefecture, which was severely damaged by the tsunami, for approximately three years, recording the changing landscape of the city and the experiences and memories of the people who live there. The video work, Under the Wave, On the Ground, created in 2014, is based on the stories of three local residents they met there and consists of three chapters: " I go to listen to the voices left behind," " When my eyes had adjusted to the glare," and Handing over flowers, we'll get together again tomorrow.”

Works by Komori Haruka+Seo Natsumi are also introduced in "Collection Relations [Guest Artists: Komori Haruka+Seo Natsumi]" in "Collection Exhibition 2023-II.
