For the renewal of the museum in 2023, new pictograms were created by combining the shapes of the building designed by architect Kisho Kurokawa. We tried to create pictograms that did not depend on the conventional stereotypes of "female" and "male" to represent people, but we received some comments that they were difficult to understand. In the first session of mocaken, we will use this issue of pictograms at the museum as a starting point for a study session and roundtable discussion to learn about the various issues and research trends facing pictograms and to share opinions.

In "About pictograms: Part 2," we will welcome Ms. Mika Kobayashi, who observes gender expressions seen in advertisements and other familiar forms of expression and analyzes their intentions, social background, and impact on us, for a lecture and roundtable discussion with participants.(Program will be conducted in Japanese)
