Hitoshi Toyoda screens his 35mm photographic works capturing trivial dairy scenes in the form of a slide show. In the “Visual Diary/Slide Show,” the artist will operate an analog projector to project his works onto the outdoor screen.

Artist’s Profile

Hitoshi Toyoda started his photography career after moving to the United States in 1986. In 1993, he started screening his photographic works mainly in New York. In public space, such as parking lots, parks, churches, and theaters, he continues showing his work in a live slide show style by handling an analog slide projector by himself. He has been invited to various film and art festivals throughout the United States and began screenings in Japan after 2000. He moved back to Japan in 2012 and continues to screen his work in various places, including the 2014 Yokohama Triennale, the closing event of the Museum of Modern Art Kamakura Annex, and the Hara Museum of Contemporary Art in Tokyo.
