With the cooperation of READAN DEAT, a bookstore in Naka Ward, Hiroshima City, we will present a pop-up exhibition featuring "Akemashite Omedetou (Happy New Year)", a photobook by Yuichi Akagi, a photographer whose work focuses primarily on commercial photography.

The book documents events that took place around Akagi’s family home in Hiroshima, his hometown. Structured chronologically, it centers on his mother, who was diagnosed with cancer in the autumn of 2014, as well as his nephew and niece, who lived near the family home at the time.

Alongside photographs taken by Akagi, the exhibition will feature everyday materials from the period, including receipts and other ephemera.

A shop on the second floor of a retro building in Naka Ward, Hiroshima City, offering little presses, photobooks, books on lifestyle and design, as well as artists’ tableware and folk crafts. In addition to exhibitions held in its in-store gallery space, the shop also hosts talks and workshops.
