Mocaken “About Bodies” program. Each of us has a different body, and we experience and feel different things depending on our age, physical characteristics, and culture. Learning about these differences not only helps us understand the barriers between people and museums and learn how to enjoy museums together, but it may also help us imagine others and perceive the world from a different perspective.


MAGNET is a collective that creates games and playful experiences rooted in the idea of “connection,” using the sense of touch as a starting point. Their tactile games emerge from a collaborative process based on the designer Tabata Hayato’s personal memories of touch and the act of creating play together. In this workshop, titled First Memories, Tactile Words, participants will trace their own memories and experiences to discover words through tactile sensations, and express the connections between themselves and others in tangible form. Think of vegetables or plants, a fabric you once loved, or the feel of an object or person—what do your hands remember? Through activities like Touch Match and LINKAGE, we will explore ways to play through touch and delve into our tactile memories. Using a variety of materials, we will experiment with turning textures and connections into physical forms.

A design collective that creates new ways to play. They specialize in finding the seeds of communication that bring people together. They create games and games that trigger people to meet and be together, starting from the act of touching and the relationship between things and people.
