Okamoto has been pursuing innovative modes of expression in stone sculpture, based on his desire to revive the memory and past contained in stones that have existed since time immemorial. He is known for works made by crushing ore down to sizes that fit in the palm of the hand and then assembling pieces like a puzzle, as well as works featuring various materials such as photographic film embedded in stone, and the work shown here contains a telephone.
